2015 was a fantastic year for WILL and we wanted to thank you all for helping to get us off to such a flying start. We held 14 events in the course of the year plus monthly 'WILL Wednesdays', launched the WILL survey alongside Kings College Management School and acquired almost 1,800 members from over 350 firms and businesses across London. Our 2015 events are listed at the bottom of this email for your perusal.
Our Chair, Sascha Grimm, was awarded a WeAreTheCity ‘Rising Star in Law’ accolade for her role in setting up WILL and promoting gender diversity in the legal profession.
In November WILL was highly commended in the ‘New Network of the Year’ category at the inaugural Inclusive Network awards. All of this said, however, there remains much to be done and we wanted to give you a preview of our plans for the year ahead.
We would like to congratulate Fatema Orjela, one of our original co-founding Committee members who has recently been made up to Partner. Being a network by associates for associates, Fatema has left the WILL Committee and we thank her for her contribution since our launch. Whilst wishing her well in her future career, we also look forward to Fatema continuing to play an active role both as a Champion and when she joins the WILL Advisory Panel.
We are delighted to welcome to our number Lynne Wells of Eversheds and Frances Stocks Allen of Latham & Watkins who have both been extremely active in their own firm’s diversity initiatives and will be excellent additions to the team.
Finally, Sascha Grimm and Suzanne Szczetnikowicz in January 2016 stepped down as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively. Suzanne will be assuming the role of Chair and original Committee member and co-founder, Sophie Bragg, is our new Vice-Chair.
